Aún recuerdo aquella vez que vi a Possessed en la cúpula del parque Ohiggins hace varios años ya, recuerdo que esa vez fue especial ya que Jeff recientemente había reformado la banda con integrantes de Sadistic Intent que también lo acompañaban en la gira. Ver a Jeff en silla de ruedas tras quedar paralitico por un disparo, cantando todos los clásicos de sus primeras tres producciones fue algo muy emotivo, sin embargo, fue un show que no todos lo recuerdan como yo. En 2013 Possessed vuelve a pisar tierras chilenas, esta vez en la desaparecida Kmazu dejando claro por qué su álbum Seven Church fue nombrado el primer álbum de death metal de la historia, con una muy buena interpretación de los temas. Actualmente Jeff Becerra viene acompañado de una alineación completamente diferente a la de aquella jornada anteriormente descrita, la que consiste en Daniel Gonzalez y Claudeus Creamer en guitarras, Robert Cardenas en bajo y Chris Aguirre II en batería, casi todos ellos grabaron la última producción de Possessed“Revelations of Oblivion”, álbum que podríamos decir es un regreso impecable de esta banda de death thrash, donde la voz de Jeff, permanece igual después de casi 32 años de haber grabado su EP “The eyes of horror” lo cual no es menor, pero creo es lo mínimo que se esperaría de un retorno tan importante y tan esperado después de haberse reformado en 2007 y con tantas compilaciones y reediciones de sus discos.
Ahora varios años más tarde, Possessed vuelve a Chile, esta vez junto a los ingleses Venom Inc, que como ya sabemos son Demolition Man en voces y Mantas en guitarras, actualmente Abaddon ya no está en batería;
todo esto bajo la etiqueta del tour latinoamericano Fatal Prediction Fest 2024, a realizarse en teatro Cariola este sábado primero de junio, las bandas nacionales que abrirán el evento son Massakre y Necrodemon, todo esto bajo la producción de Chargola.
Este sábado quiero repetir en mis oídos sus temas más emblemáticos como “The Exorcist”, “Pentagram”, “Tribulation”, “My Belief” y “Death Metal” y volver a sentirme como un quinceañero cuando escuché sumúsica por primera vez.
Todos esperamos un espectáculo digno de una de las bandas más importantes históricamente hablando que ha influenciado a muchas bandas también emblemáticas.
